# Confluence Integration

> Connect Confluence to Potpie to give agents the ability to read, search, and update pages directly from your codebase conversations.

## Before you begin

Make sure you have:

* A [Potpie account](https://app.potpie.ai/sign-in)
* A [Confluence Cloud](https://id.atlassian.com/login) account with permission to authorize OAuth applications on your Atlassian organization

***

## Connect your Confluence account

**1. Open Integrations**

Go to [Potpie](https://app.potpie.ai/sign-in) → **Integrations**.

**2. Authorize Confluence**

Click **Connect Confluence** and complete the OAuth consent screen on Atlassian's side. Potpie stores your access and refresh tokens encrypted in PostgreSQL, linked to your Confluence Cloud site.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Once connected, agents can use Confluence tools whenever they are included in the agent's tool list.

## What agents can do with Confluence

Each tool below becomes available to any agent that has it included in its tool list. All tools require an active Confluence connection — if none is found, the tool returns an error prompting you to connect Confluence first.

**Reading and searching pages**

**get\_confluence\_spaces** `tool`

Lists all Confluence spaces accessible to the connected account.

**get\_confluence\_space\_pages** `tool`

Lists pages within a specific space. Use this to browse available content before reading or updating a page.

**get\_confluence\_page** `tool`

Reads the full content of a page, including its body and current version number. Always call this before updating a page — Confluence requires the correct incremented version in update requests.

**search\_confluence\_pages** `tool`

Searches pages using CQL (Confluence Query Language) with full-text search across spaces. Use this to find relevant documentation by keyword, label, or space.

**Creating and updating pages**

**create\_confluence\_page** `tool`

Creates a new page in a specified space. Requires a title, body content, and a valid space key.

**update\_confluence\_page** `tool`

Updates a page's title or body. You must call `get_confluence_page` first to obtain the current version number — Confluence rejects updates that do not include the correct incremented version.

**add\_confluence\_comment** `tool`

Posts a footer comment or a threaded reply to an existing page.

## Token refresh

Potpie automatically refreshes your Confluence access token before it expires. No action is required from you — agents will continue working without interruption across token cycles.
